About the Project
The project goal
We all have to overcome the uncertainty whether our children would be happy in the future. How will they cope with a world even more complicated than the one we already live in now.
But as we created with the kids, that uncertainty turned into the realization that it will help children the most in life if they have a basic setup with which they can handle basically anything that life throws their way.
A big boulder fell from us, because when you create with children, you allow them to experience reality and you talk about it, that's enough. In short, there is no science to get these few abilities in children:
- Take responsibility for their own learning
- Discover what I like and what I'm good at
- Wanting and being able to change things that don't suit me
- To be able to create and come up with novel and creative solutions
- Manage frustration and overcome obstacles
- Know your limits and be comfortable with them
- To be able to communicate and cooperate with other people
- Select and verify information
- Being able to ask the right questions
- Cope with changes
- And most importantly - to put things together in life in such a way that it can be lived without unnecessary stress.
How we do it
- Supporting children in the implementation of their own projects
- Provision of education and professional support to schools and teachers
- Supporting families, because there is no better place to turn your own ideas into reality
The history
So that's how it started. For a few years, we created at home as a family and just by the way some things was created here and there.
We discovered that we enjoy this kind of creation and that it is very easy for us parents to bring up through practical experience and contact with reality. The topics of sustainability, financial literacy, critical thinking, knowledge of materials, some mathematics came to us completely naturally.
Is this too general? So, if you are interested in specific things that we learned check the gallery for some inspiration.
In short, as parents, we tried and are trying to bring up active, enterprising people... I mean, bring up :-) Rather, not to kill it at home, because please, children are pretty enterprising, creative and active. By themselves.
GeekEdu was originally developed by Ales Komarek to support education of his children.
